Vehicle Parking
The map below shows the campus parking areas. Parking facilities are adequate in most cases. Even at peak traffic periods, spaces are usually available in the Nicoson Hall east lot. There are times, though, such as the early evening hours during the week and when special events are scheduled, that facilities are used at or near capacity. In these instances, vehicle operators may need to make use of Lot 1 or Lot 17.

Parking area restrictions are enforced from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each weekday from approximately August 27th through April 30 in student lots and through approximately May 27 in faculty/staff lots, except during extended academic vacations. If the area is not marked as a parking stall, it is not intended for parking. Parking area privileges during the above times and dates are accorded as indicated below.

Visitors and Short-Term Parking: Between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m each weekday when classes are in session, university guests and visitors may park only in visitor lots. In addition, 30-minute temporary parking zones are provided near most residence halls and major buildings and may be used by permit holders and visitors alike.

Timed parking zones are patrolled by campus police; violators will be ticketed and may have their vehicles towed. Time zones are enforced 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Lots 7 and 16 are enforced Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., year-round.

Temporary Permits: An office/department at the University has to sponsor the temporary permit for persons on the campus for special programs, events, or business from the university office sponsoring the program or event, or from the Campus Police. These are available for pickup Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The permit will entitle the holder to park in any lot and at any time as indicated on the permit.

United Way Parking
There are "Reserved for United Way Contributor" spaces throughout campus. These spaces are reserved for designated donors. These reserved spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Violators may be towed.

Loading Zones
Several areas around university buildings are loading zones designated for the active process of loading or unloading one's vehicle. The operator of a vehicle that is being loaded/unloaded should make an effort to demonstrate by use of emergency flashers. Twenty minutes is considered ample time to use the zone. Any task that requires more time to accomplish should be communicated to Campus Police at 788-3333 or 788-3386. Violators may be cited and/or towed from loading zones.

Fire Lanes
Some areas near residence halls and other University buildings are designated as fire lanes. The purpose of these areas is to provide parking for emergency vehicles such as those used for police, fire department, and medical services. Violators may be ticketed by any police agency having jurisdiction at the University of Indianapolis and vehicles in violation may be towed.

Parking for the Handicapped
Special parking spaces for the physically handicapped are located in various lots and are indicated by sign standards or by painted markings. In order for an individual to use a space provided for the handicapped, the vehicle must bear an Indiana or other state-issued license plate, or state handicap permit, or display a special permit card issued by the University of Indianapolis Campus Police. Handicapped zones are enforced 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Violators may be towed.

Reserved Parking
There are "Reserved Parking" signs posted on individual parking stalls. Unless the sign specifies otherwise, these reserved spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Violators may be towed.
