Motorist Assistance
(24 hrs a day)
Campus police officers are charged with the responsibility for the enforcement of campus vehicle regulations. It is important to know that they are employed also to provide help and assistance when possible to visitors and members of the campus community. Campus police can be contacted by signaling an officer in the U of I patrol car, or by calling the police at 788-3333. Specific questions or comments regarding the overall operation of the campus security system or police force may be directed to the Chief of Police (788-3386).

Safety Escort Service
Escorts are available to and from campus locations. Please call 788-3333 to arrange for this service, and allow a few minutes for the cadet or police officer to reach your location.

Building and Facility Access
No exterior door keys other than for residence halls are issued to students. However, students are permitted to enter or remain in any building after hours if they have a building pass from the Campus Police Office. Any student needing to enter or remain in a building other than during its open hours should present a request (for a specific day and time) in writing, signed by the professor, to the Campus Police Office. Students may then be issued a building pass to be presented with their student ID to a Campus Police Officer, who will then accompany the student to gain access to the building. Campus Police may be contacted at 788-3333. Building passes are issued Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
