Vehicle Registration

The Motor Vehicle Registration process is based on accurate information about the permit holder and his/her vehicle(s). Accurate information works to the benefit of both the permit holder and the University. It is essential that permit holders relay changes in address, vehicle(s) and license plates as soon as possible to Campus Police via telephone, campus mail or U.S. mail, or via e-mail (police@uindy.edu).

Students
Any student operating a motorized vehicle on the campus must register the vehicle and display a valid permit by properly affixing the permit to the passenger's side, bottom corner, of the windshield so that it may be read through the vehicle windshield. Vehicles may be registered at the time of class registration for either Day or Extended Studies courses at the Campus Police Office in Schwitzer Student Center Room 001, Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Current license plate information and University of Indianapolis ID cards are required for registration.

Employees
Full- and part-time faculty and staff must also register the vehicles they plan to operate or park on the campus. Registration may be completed and permits may be obtained from the Campus Police Office in Schwitzer Student Center Room 001, Monday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Current license plate information and University of Indianapolis identification cards are required for registration.

Display
Students, faculty, and staff members must register each vehicle they intend to operate on campus. A current parking permit must be displayed whenever the vehicle is parked or operated on campus, regardless of parking enforcement restriction times.

Permit Codes
Color-coded parking permits are issued in three categories: green for faculty and staff, red for resident students, and yellow for commuter students. Permits must reflect the status of the operator of the vehicle.
